Indian born Sheila Malhotra’s paintings are dreamy marine landscapes painted from the perspective of a ship’s porthole.
She has received much critical acclaim for her work both in her home country and the UK.
Her new exhibition “From the porthole – Marine Millennia” is her second solo show in London and is based around the theme of the passing of the last millennium.
Sheila of Stanley Road said, “The millennium was 5 years ago but it was an important event.”
“People have forgotten it already but I don’t want it to die away.” “I want to keep it alive forever.” “My last exhibition was very good but I have got a feeling this is something totally new. This time I’m doing something little different” “I haven’t seen this concept before.”
The exhibition consists of oil paintings and collage works featuring newspaper cuttings from the first week of the new millennium.
It runs until this Friday at Nehru Centre 8 South Audley Street, Mayfair.
