From Cuisine to cultureA highly-accomplished painter, Sheila Malhotra moved to London along with her husband some time ago.

She has a keen eye for details and varied experiences while traveling in merchant navy ships across oceans. She has put all that on canvas in her painting, The World Through A Porthole.

She said that a ship’s porthole is of great significance to her, being the only link between the ship’s cabin and the world beyond the horizon.

Her paintings are thus an eye-witness account on coloured canvases of the moods of an ocean, the flickering starlights illuminating the skies and then there is the transition across millenniums through collage and paint.

One can share her experiences by seeing her paintings scheduled to be exhibited at the Nehru Centre in the second week of May.
